MVSC FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
|
How do I register my child
for Mill Valley Soccer?
Registration is easy. You have two choices: if
your child is in U-10 or older, you can register by downloading our forms
here and mailing them in, or you can go to the
in-person registration. Updates and times and locations given
here.
How can I sign up to coach a
team?
When you download the info for mail-in
registration, you will receive a "coach volunteer" form, please fill it out
and mail it in with your child's registration. If you register in-person,
please fill out a "coach volunteer" form.
What are the requirements to
coach a team?
MVSC requires all coaches to have at least an
"F" level license. THE MVSC will sponsor free clinics prior to the start of
the season for those coaches without a license. check calendar
I
don't want to coach, what else can I do?
The entire club is run by volunteers. You can
be a big help in any of the following areas: registration, web site
photographer, Picture Day, jamborees and tournaments, or get involved as an
Age group Commissioner, board member, field set-up.

When do we know what team we
are on?
Teams are formed after the last registration
date. This process may take up to two months. Coaches will notify the
players on their teams before June 20.
What is the draft?
For age-groups beginning with U-10, a draft is
held to form balanced teams. Coaches meet to select players in rounds, one
player to each team in each round, until all players have been assigned to a
team.
Can my child transfer to
another team?
Only under exceptional circumstances do we
allow players to change teams. Because we have done our best to create
balanced teams, moving one player has the potential to create a chain
reaction. Requests must be approved by the Player Agent. Requests to change
must be made to the coach of the assigned team, who will assist the parent
in contacting the age-group commissioner and the Player Agent.
Can my child play on the same
team as his friend?
We allow players to request one or several
friends at registration, and try very hard to accommodate the requests.
However, due to the need to create balanced teams, we cannot honor every
request. When we are not able to put the friends on the same team, we
strongly encourage the players (and parents) to be open to meeting new kids
on their teams. Players usually make new friends and have a successful and
fun soccer season.
Does my child need a uniform?
All recreational players wear the same
uniform: reversible red/blue shirt with MVSC logo, white shorts, red/blue
socks over shin guards, and soccer cleats. Note: shin guards are mandatory,
and baseball cleats are NOT allowed.
Where are practices and games
held?
Almost all practices and games are held on
Mill Valley soccer fields, which are shown here. Additionally,
fields in Corte Madera, San Clemente and Sausalito are used by some
age-groups.
If my child decides not
to play, can I get a refund?
Refunds of 50% of the registration fee (not
including $50.00 late fee) will be made if the player withdraws prior to
September 1. After September 1 there are no refunds.
