The Mill Valley U12 Girls Rockers Red soccer team, finished 2nd at the Walnut Creek 2011 Octoberfest tournament.  They were undefeated in the preliminary round, allowing only one goal, and played an exciting finals match which was decided by a goal in the last minute.

And perhaps more importantly, they WON the Costume Contest, with an assist by coach Javier Alvarado, who went beyond the call of duty to help his team secure victory.

The girls played great soccer, winning their bracket in impressive fashion on the first day. The Rockers first played San Ramon, and went up 2-0 on goals from Ashley Yanabu and Adeela Deleon. The Rockers gave up a goal towards the end, but won 2-1. The next game in their bracket was against the Heritage Bolt . The Rockers dominated this game on both ends of the field, winning 3-0 on goals from Adeela DeLeon and Mia Tribolet. They would advance to the semi-finals the next day.

 The semi-final against Castro Valley was played the next morning, on a wet, slippery field. Despite these conditions, the Rockers again played well, winning 2-0 on goals from Hannah Reidy and Ashley Yanabu. They advanced to the final against the Vacaville United Thunderbirds.

The final was played in the afternoon in much warmer conditions. The Rockers came out firing, nearly scoring a few times early, but the Thunderbirds would come back and score 3 goals .. at least two of which were very controversial in nature. Despite that, the Rockers kept fighting, and surged back at the end of the game on inspired play by Grace Gustafson who scored back to back goals. The Rockers had a ton of momentum, but unfortunately time ran out. The girls finished the weekend 3-1. Hopefully the girls can carry this momentum into the State Cup Finals next weekend in Sacramento!

The Fusion boys dominated in the Dublin tournament Sept. 24 and 25, outscoring opponents 10-0. Forwards Jack Singer and Josh Cohen scored 4 and 3 goals respectively over the weekend, while Matthew Johnson, Jackson Sell and Kapp Singer each tallied one. Marco Jacques created five of the assists.

Nathan Lopes held opponents at bay in the mid-back while Thomas Whalen, David Swart and Alec Sievers helped the team keep possession. James Fowler and Lane Stervinou each had shots on goal and each time the goalie made a nice fingertip save.

In Walnut Creek, the Mill Valley squad won all of their games and brought home their first silverware. Goalie Brooks Hoffman made 13 saves that weekend and led the stellar defense crew of Ben Lightner, Marco Castillo, and Oliver Parkin. Hoffman has posted six clean sheets in six games.

The boys "showed the will, the focus and the legs to bring quality to their performance," Fullerton said. "And as always, they showed class and sportsmanship, and they honored the game."

The Mill Valley Soccer Club is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing the youth of Mill Valley the opportunity to play soccer at the recreational and competitive level. The Club is dedicated to player development at all levels and to providing opportunities to every player to realize their full potential. The Mill Valley Soccer Club is equally devoted to fielding a full complement of Mill Valley community teams. Character and life lessons are core to our program including a strong code of sportsmanlike conduct for players, parents, and coaches.
 
The Director Of Operations (“DOO”) will be responsible for:
·        Player and team registration and club affiliation
·        Working with the Parks and Recreation Department to acquire fields
·        Scheduling of games and practices during the fall soccer season
·        Purchasing and maintenance of all field equipment
·        Coordination of referees, field set up, uniform purchase and distribution
·        Maintaining insurance
·        Creating a budget, position descriptions, and salaries for staff including Bookkeeper/Administrator, Referee Coordinator, Off-Season Scheduler, field liners, and other administrative employees as needed, subject to board approval.
·        Managing administrative staff within budget
·        Creating position description and “how-to” documentation of the DOO position.
·        Providing technical and registration support for players, coaches, and families, and the Board (phone, email, Demosphere, Survey Monkey, etc.)
·        Acting as primary technical expert for Demosphere website and registration system
·        Creating and implementing a training program to support Club volunteers including Competitive Team Managers, Recreational League Coaches and Referees, Field Marshals, and Age Group Coordinators
·        Compiling and analyzing key Club performance data (i.e. surveys, registration trends, player evaluations, etc.) and presenting insights at Board meetings
·        Developing and maintaining the day-to day working relationship with Mill Valley Parks and Recreation department
·        Planning meeting agendas and attending board meetings
·        Accompanying Board Members to community meetings if requested
 
The ideal candidate will have:
-3-5 years experience in day to day management of a youth sports organization
-Supervisory Experience of a team of 5 staff members
-Experience with Demosphere or comparable online sports league registration and management software
-Excellent people skills
