MVSC continues collaboration with French Professional Soccer Club

Last summer, the Racing Club's Youth Academy Director co-directed one week of our MVSC/Fullerton Soccer Summer Camps. About 60 kids registered and enjoyed a fun week of soccer, in which they had a chance to work with several French Academy staff members. More details on this summer's planned program will be posted on the MVSC website later this spring.
Second, as an exciting offshoot of our collaboration with the Racing Club, two current MVSC players and one former player received invitations to go to France to train for a week with the Strasbourg Youth Academy teams.
Two members of the Fall 2009 NorCal State Cup winning U11 Fusion team -- Matthew Dixon and Ian Buehler – have been invited to travel to France later this spring. Meanwhile, former MVSC player Eloi Vasquez (14 years old), who now attends Mill Valley Middle School and plays with Marin FC, spent a week at the Strasbourg Academy in early February of 2010. Eloi trained and played with the Strasbourg Academy U17 players. Upon his return, Eloi commented: “The experience was incredible. Every day we played in snow and freezing cold, but the level of play was amazing. The players there play a really fast and smart game. You have to have an excellent first touch or you’re going to lose the ball every time you get it.” Eloi earned great praise from the Academy Staff, and on his final day in Strasbourg, Elois scored a goal in a full sided-friendly game, playing with Strasbourg’s top U17 team.
MVSC is proud of the incredible recognition these boys have earned through their hard work and dedication. We wish them the best of luck in pursuing these opportunities.
