PRESIDENTS MESSAGE APRIL 2007 |
The Board of Directors invites all children
who have a desire to play soccer, or what the world calls “The Beautiful
Game” to come to the Mill Valley Soccer Club Rec. Registration days of
Thursday April 26 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and April 29, 12:00 noon to 3:00
pm.
The club continues to grow and the need for additional parent volunteers
is desperately needed. Simply put, the all-volunteer Board and the
parents make the league successful. As we have seen a steady increase in
the number of children in Mill Valley in recent years, the Club has
grown as well. While this is wonderful news and offers more
opportunities to play soccer for our children, it also requires
increased parent participation in order to manage the larger number of
games. With the growth of players, the need for field space both inside
and outside of Mill Valley escalates.
This year we are asking each parent to volunteer at Registration in
order to help the Board manage the growth of the club. If, however, you
are unable to volunteer your time, the Board is asking each family to
pay an “opt out” $50.00 fee that will be used to help support the clubs
expenses related to our aforementioned growth. While we would rather
have you volunteer your time, the opt out money will be used to help
offset the Club’s expenses such as field rental (In and out of Mill
Valley) and maintenance, referee programs, new balls, nets, bags &
equipment. Volunteer areas include: Coach, Assistant Coach, Snack
Coordinator, Connor Bell Fund, SoccerFest, Photography Day, clothing,
uniforms & merchandise.
We also welcome parent and player input as we look toward our future in
the form of creating a Strategic Plan for the next 3-5 years. Important
issues include fields, fundraising, and parent participation. Please
feel free to contact any one our Board Members at the MVSC website (www.mvsc.org)
with your comments or suggestions. The Board now has several open
positions in the area of Operations and Finance and we encourage anyone
of interested to contact the Board.
As we plan for the 2007 season start in September, there are plenty of
opportunities to prepare for the season. Please take a look at our web
