Are there scholarships available?

What do my registration fees pay for?
MVSC is a non-profit, and the registration fees cover the essentials for playing soccer in Mill Valley. These include the insurance coverage provided by US Club Soccer, referee wages, balls and other equipment, professional trainers and clinics offered free to recreational players, administrative and accounting support, and most importantly, FIELDS.

Those are the basics. For program and field improvements, as well as our scholarship programs, we are largely dependent on voluntary donations from our members. If you are interested in making a donation, you may do so through the on-line registration process, or you may contact our Director of Marketing/Fundraising, Craig Miller.

What is the refund policy if I need to cancel my child’s registration?
All registration fees are refundable if notification is received prior to August 1. For cancellations made between August 1 - August 15, 50% refunds are available. After August 15 there are no refunds. Late Fees are non-refundable. There may be a $30 administrative fee attached to any refund request.

How do I sign-up to volunteer?
A number of volunteer options are presented through the on-line registration process, including Coach, Assistant Coach, and Referee. Our biggest need is for help at Soccerfest – Labor Day 2011 (September 5). Volunteers sign-up for 2 hour shifts, and must be available on Labor Day. For more information about volunteering, please contact Karen Sakanashi at kjem@sbcglobal.net.

How do I find out about Playing Up or Playing Down?
Our goal in recreational soccer is to place children in playing leagues that are age/grade appropriate. Choosing to play with your grade is by far the most popular choice among parents. However, in special circumstances aimed at finding the best developmental fit for a child, we can accommodate requests to either play in an older or younger age group. Approval must come for the Player Agent, so please contact Jon Bontz at jonbontz@yahoo.com with additional questions.

How long is the season?
Practices for most teams will begin in late August. Our season “officially” opens at SoccerFest, on Labor Day, and games will be played in early September through the first weekend of November. In the event of rainouts, the season may occasionally extend an additional weekend in November.

Why doesn’t my information from last year pop up when I register?
We have switched on-line registration technology, requiring that all registration information must be re-gathered to populate our new database.  If you have registered for one of our Spring programs in 2011, you should be set to go.  Otherwise, please register as a new family.
