Mill Valley Soccer Club invites you to join us in our 2007 Recreational
Spring Sunday Soccer Program!
Each year, MVSC receives numerous requests to provide recreational players
the opportunity to play soccer during the spring season. MVSC is aware that
many of our young soccer players enjoy playing other sports during the
spring. Our Spring Sunday Soccer Program was created to give kids a chance
to play soccer without conflicting with their participation in other spring
sports and activities.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM MVSC’s Spring Sunday Soccer Program offers young players
the opportunity to learn exciting soccer skills and to enjoy playing the
world’s most popular sport during the spring. The program is designed to
nurture young players’ love for the game in a non-pressured, fun-filled
environment. We realize that for most of our participants, our weekly
sessions may be the only opportunities they have to play organized soccer
during the spring. As such, this year’s program format will consist of a
15-minute skill-building warm-up, followed by a full hour of 5 vs. 5 GAMES.
There will be no set teams for our Sunday program. Instead, new teams will
be formed each Sunday by our Head Coach (a professional coach from MVSC’s
competitive program). Our program’s small-sided games format will ensure
that all players get lots of action in every game, and that each player
learns all of the essential components of effective soccer (attacking,
defending, dribbling, passing, scoring goals, etc.). Some instruction will
be provided by our Head Coach, but the program’s goal is for players to
learn from the best teacher of the game: the game itself. In addition, our
Head Coach will offer tips to parents on how they can help their budding
soccer enthusiasts work on basic skills on their own. Sessions will take
place weekly on Sunday afternoons, in order to minimize conflict with other
spring sports. This program is open only to recreational soccer players.
