Spring Academy - Weekdays

MVSC is pleased to announce its 15th annual Spring Soccer Academy training program.  This Spring Academy is open to players of all levels whose birth dates fallbetween January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2013.  Our program will provide participants with a fun, developmental training opportunity during the spring season.  Please note that this program is designed to be a skill-intensive, player development program.  This program is not appropriate for players who wish only to scrimmage*.  Our Academy training program is an excellent means for players to improve their soccer abilities in conjunction with their participation in other spring sports.  Over 600 registrants participated in 2018 -- Please sign up early once registration opens on February 4!

*Players who wish to play in games only are encouraged to check out MVSC’s 5 v 5 Spring League.

Our Professional Coaching Staff will implement a strong, established soccer curriculum which emphasizes:

  • Individual skill development
  • Tactical components of play in small-sided game formats (1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, 4 vs. 4, etc.).
  • Coordination/movement mechanics and fitness
  • Players will be grouped by gender*, skill and ability (rather than by friendship or age) in order to ensure an appropriate curriculum and level of challenge for all participants
  • For sessions referred to as "Coed," participants will be grouped by gender whenever numbers permit.

MVSC is also offering Professional Goalkeeper Training sessions for 2010 and older players, coached by Professional Goalkeeper Coach Kellis Johnson.

MVSC will hold its Competitive & Development Team Tryouts May 4, 5 and May 11.  Participation in our Spring Academy is NOT required to try out for Competitive or Development teams.  However, spring participation will facilitate the skill development and disciplined training habits necessary to enjoy success in these programs.
*Any player who is registered with a Competitive Team in a non-MVSC club must obtain written permission from their club's Director of Coaching and e-mail that permission to fullertonsoccer@yahoo.com prior to registering with our program.

The Academy program will begin the week of Monday, March 11 and the final training session will take place on Friday, May 10.  There will be no training sessions during the week of April 8-12.

In the event of rainfall, please check www.mvsc.org after 2:30pm on the day of training to see if the field is open. Make-up sessions will be added at the end of the program for sessions canceled due to field closures.
