MVSC Weekday Spring Academy

MVSC is pleased to announce its 16th annual Spring Soccer Academy training program.  Our Spring Academy is open to players of all levels whose birth dates fall between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2014.  Our program will provide participants with a fun, developmental training opportunity during the spring season.  Please note that this program is designed to be a skill-intensive, player development program.  This program is not appropriate for players who wish only to scrimmage.  Our Academy training program is an excellent means for players to improve their soccer abilities in conjunction with their participation in other spring sports.  Over 500 registrants participated in 2019 -- please sign up early once registration opens on February 9, 2020.

Our Professional Coaching Staff will implement a strong, established soccer curriculum which emphasizes:

  • Individual skill development
  • Tactical components of play in small-sided game formats (1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, 4 vs. 4, etc.).
  • Coordination/movement mechanics and fitness

Players will be grouped by gender, skill and ability (rather than by friendship or age) in order to ensure an appropriate curriculum and level of challenge for all participants.  For sessions referred to as "Coed," participants will be grouped by gender whenever numbers permit.

MVSC is also offering Professional Goalkeeper Training sessions for 2009 and older players, coached by Professional Goalkeeper Coach Kellis Johnson.

MVSC will hold its Competitive & Development Team Tryouts in May.  Participation in our Spring Academy is NOT required to try out for Competitive or Development teams.  However, spring participation will facilitate the skill development and disciplined training habits necessary to enjoy success in these programs.

*Any players who are registered with a Competitive team in a non-MVSC club must obtain written permission from their club's Director of Coaching and e-mail that permission to fullertonsoccer@yahoo.com prior to registering with our program.

SCHEDULE

The Academy program will begin the week of Monday, March 9 and the final training session will take place on Friday, May 8.  There will be no training sessions during the week of April 6-10.

Spring Academy sessions are suspended from March 12 - March 28.  Make-up sessions will be added in May for all canceled sessions.
