In the spring of 2024, MVSC changed its process for spring competitive weekend play, with team formation done by MVSC’s professional coaching staff and registration required in order to be placed on a spring league team. The process for spring of 2026 will be the same as the last two spring seasons.
All families of U8-U18 competitive players will receive an email invitation inviting them to register their child for weekend spring games. The cost is $315 per player. If you do not receive an invitation, please reach out to info@mvsc.org.
Will my child be on the same team as their fall competitive team?
Spring teams will be formed based on interest and commitment of currently registered MVSC/United competitive players. If enough players from an existing team opt to register, we will form teams with similar player compositions as our fall teams. If not enough kids from a single team commit, then MVSC will adjust rosters for the spring, forming teams from those players that do register.
Does my child have to commit to making all spring league games in order to participate?
No. We understand that some players may have other spring sports/activities. Our registration form requires players to indicate their level of commitment to attending games. Level of commitment will be taken into account when determining roster sizes (e.g., roster sizes may be bigger for teams with players who cannot commit to making all games). Players who indicate less than 100% commitment will be assigned roster spots to the best of our ability.
How will MVSC decide to combine teams, if necessary?
The NorCal spring league offers several different playing options. These include:
Depending on the playing interest of a given team or cohort, teams may require a roster with as many as 16 players (11 v 11 play), or as few as 7 (5 v 5 play). We will determine the best plan for combining players from different teams only after we evaluate the full pool of spring league registrants.
Will players who join spring league teams have the option of practicing on weekdays?
Yes. Fall 2025 competitive fees include one day of weekday training in the spring through our Spring Academy program. Families will select their preferred spring training day/time from a list of available options in February. Players can also register for a second day of weekday training for an additional cost. Registration will open in February.
Please keep in mind that players who play in weekend games are not required to participate in weekday practices; and players who register for the weekday Spring Academy training are not required to join a weekend team.
What are the season start and end dates for weekend games?
Games will run from approximately early-March to approximately early-May.
What is the deadline to sign up for weekend game play?
January 21, 2026, so that our professional coaching staff has time to evaluate the player pool and form teams prior to the NorCal team registration deadline.
What if my child can’t commit now, but we decide to play after the registration deadline?
We will do our best to make room for as many players as possible, but a team roster spot is not guaranteed unless you register on time. Late registrants will be assessed a $50 late fee, and will be placed on a first come, first served basis as team roster sizes allow.
When will spring team coaches be announced?
Competitive teams participating in spring leagues will be coached by MVSC Pro Coaches. Coaches will be determined by no later than February 22.
Will my child have the same coach as in the fall?
Your child may or may not have the same coach as in the fall, as coaching assignments will depend on the number of teams playing and coach availability.
Can I know my child’s team assignment and playing league/format prior to committing to the spring season?
Unfortunately, no. As stated earlier, we won’t know exact teams until we can evaluate the full pool of registered players. We will announce team assignments on or before February 8.
What is the refund policy for spring league?
Does my child need to play on an MVSC spring team to ensure a spot on a competitive team next fall?
No, spring play is optional. All fall teams will be determined after 2026 tryouts, to be held in May.
